I am new to this site, and love it! We are expecting a shipment of chicks next week. I ordered them the last week in March, and was so confident I would get an immediate ship date, I went out and bought 50 lbs of organic starter. Now it is a month old. I emailed Countryside to ask how long the feed would be good, and got no reply. Do any of you know how long the feed will last? I would hate to feed the new chicks something that isn't good for them.

I think it should be okay. There is no expiration dates on any of the chicken feed bags. So if it isn't moldy it's okay.

I am local to Countryside Organics and buy all my feed there (and organic garden supplements). I started out with only six chicks, so a 50 pound bag lasts a while. When questioned about how long before it goes stale, the owner told me that a sealed bag or an open bag kept away from moisture (in a closed container) would be good for at least a year. I'm surprised you didn't get an e-mail reply. I usually hear back within a few hours.

Thank you! I have had it in a sealed container. I was also surprised at getting no response from Countryside. But, come to think of it, maybe my email ended up in their spam folder? Appreciate the help.

Anne
