County Fair and animal cruelty!!!

WOW! Sounds like you are set on being heard and blaming someone. I don't think your approach is practical on getting a resolution. Does not sound like a catastrophe happened. Sometimes my chickens go longer than an hour without wanting a drink. I say calm down and get your figures together. All we are hearing is opinions; numbers speak louder than opinions. How did you offer to help? Sounds like a scare tactic to keep peolple from showing!

Your post whether meaning to or not, came across rather trollish. The OP was troubled by what she saw and was seeking advice and a solution, while also venting her emotions. Doesn't sound like a scare tactic at all.

Isn't there someone to blame? Animals were obviously distressed, especially since one dropped dead in it's cage.

The problem wasn't that the animals weren't being offered water, it was that they couldn't reach it. When the OP tipped a water cup within reach of a rooster he drank it. Ever hear the saying "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink"? This bird obviously wanted water when it was presented within his reach.

I know that if I were to enter any of my animals into the fair, I would be sure they would be getting adequate care. Whether it was the owner's fault or this lady's fault, the birds were dying for some reason or other.

The random death of a show bird seems very suspicious to me. Granted it could have been a meat bird and suffered a heart attack. It does seem a bit coincidental that these birds could not reach their water, some were injured, and others dropping dead, doesn't it? Doesn't sound like the normal fair to me.

I was simply getting what bothered ME off my chest about how these chickens were treated.Yes my opinion but this shouldn't have been a heated argument.Enough said mods can lock this post because I'm handling the situation the best way I can. Was looking for solutions to the problem from others who show the compassion towards animals such as my self. Thanks to everyone who supported me and said such kind words and to those who disagreed sorry I couldn't change your view on it.

Wasn't a meat bird. Was production young cock and was in my opinion dehydrated and died of heat stroke.

Could have been prevented and that was just day 1 of the fair.We are going Saturday because my son is suppose to work at the milkshake stand for 4H and I'm afraid to see what it's like now.

It is a sad thing to see sometimes, but use it to your advantage. Teach your son that this is not how animals should be kept, and if they cannot be kept safely or humanely, then they should not be shown.

When I was riding with a large group of weekend trailriders, I would sit out the hotter days of the summer even while others rode through it. I'll never forget going to the mountains with a large group and seeing people ride their horses to exhaustion and death. It taught me to care for my animals better and that a fun day in the sun with your friends isn't worth the death of your horse.
