The blue mottled cockerel is a definite keeper for me he is colored like his mother! Only have one other blue cockerel hatch out and several black. They love attention and have to be petted every time I open the cage to feed and water. I hope the wyandotte project produces mottling this good when I breed the plits together!!!

Can I ask a quick genetics question? If I want to get blue mottled, and I have black mottled and blue cochins, is it just your standard method of breeding them together, and then the offspring will be BBS split with the mottled gene, and then breed that back to the black mottled? Hope I'm right, that blue mottled is a beauty!!!!

Pretty much. All the offspring would be split mottled. U can breed them together or with the mottled and get some mottled but not all will be. I'd keep the best blue splits and breed them together and keep the best blue mottleds from them then breed back to the mottled parrents.

thanks everybody for the comments. Can't wait to breed him back to his mother to see the outcome.
