Good Moring All From Upstate NY!
On Thursday I posted a pic of the new watering setup my husband made for my girls and "Bob". One reply from a member mentioned I should cover the pail because of the location/sun/algae. I can't find the post or suggestions. Can someone take a look at my setup and let me know if it is "ok" as is or should I change something? The pail is in full sunlight about 50-80% of the day. I freshen it daily keep probiotics/vitamins and a little bit of ACV in it.

ACV normally inhibits the algae growth. However, I never worry about algae....( I know some of you are shuddering in horror)...

Have you seen the stuff chickens eat and drink when left to their own? I am sure they have a healthy immune system based on what they LIKE to consume.

I clean mine once in a while, but I use little dog dishes that refill on their own.

I think that was me :)
I had a friend with their Rain water barrel get algae because it was in the sun all day and it was white color. I think if it is a dark color that the aglae is not as bad ?
The other day when we were in the 90's the water we had was hot ! I moved it to the shade and it was way better. I wondered if they were drinking it if it was so warm to drink.
