I’m seeing lots of ads for people wanting to buy laying hens and pullets. I went to TSC today to get scratch and cat food and there were no chicks, only ducklings (7 empty cold tanks). I am concerned that all the hoarders are buying chicks and chickens that they aren’t prepared to care for. It concerns me that so many birds are going to suffer and I wonder if anything can be done to prevent it. Like a PSA or something.

I'm concerned about this as well. I think it's great for communities to be self-sufficient. But I have heard friends of friends talking about getting their own chickens because the stores don't have eggs, and I feel a lot of concern about how many people are going to be stupid about it. I have a hard time in general thinking about how people around the world are treating their animals/wild life/their children. I'm not sure what to do about it though.
