cracked beak

I have a young rooster who has chucked off a part of his beak. Its not bad (IMO). I'm wondering if its okay to use a fake finger nail file and gently file the jagged chipped edges to a smooth finish?

I used to have a parrot and I would get him groomed every few weeks and they filed his beak but didn't want to do anything before asking for advice.

Yes, do it. He will look and feel much better.
