Cracked egg-Don't give up hope

I accidentally bumped an egg on day 16 while hand turning and cracked it pretty significantly. The membrane stayed intact but my heart sank thinking this was the end for my little cochin that was soon due to hatch. I did a search on here for the same problem and there were a few posts about others using scotch tape. I figured what have I got to lose and put some tape over the dented hole and crack. Welll lo and behold, on day 21 TODAY) I have my 3 little cochins fluffing up the 'bator! The cracked chick survived my clumsiness and actually had a normal pip, zip & hatch!
Thank you BYC! If it weren't for this board I would have never known to patch the egg with tape.

Now you guys need to help me stop buying hatching eggs, lol. I just know I am going to be so depressed when I have no eggs to tend to, lol. I guess we could call it post hatch depression, lol.

I know the feeling.

I dropped one while candeling and it had a dent and several cracks.

And yes thanks to BYC I repaired it, and candled it the next day and saw good movement!!

I used wax and it is holding pretty good, hatch is due next week so we will see if this works!
