Cracked Egg

We have been getting a larger brown egg for a couple months now that is always thin on the very tip of the egg, whenever it drops from the hen it indents and cracks the top part of the egg. They all eat layer crumb mix with regular oyster shells.

It may help to make sure the bedding layer in the nest box is thicker to help cushion the egg as it lays - hens stand up when laying and the egg falls a short distance. another option would be nest box pads.

I have rolling egg boxes so more padding would prevent the boxes from working properly. It is only one hen though so I'm not sure why her egg isn't forming properly
