Cracked open a viable egg! NO!!!!

I think the majority of us have at one time, especially in the beginning opened an egg we thought was a quitter to find that we were wrong and have had to deal with that guilt, so know that you are not alone. I did it my very first hatch. Now, I only remove clears and blood rings (and unquestionable easy to see no active veins early quitters.) My policy is as long as they don't smell they stay in until the end of the hatch. If I think there's a possibility they have quite I will mark it with a ? and try to set it away from the other eggs if possible. As far as development, this chart might help you:

Amy I do the same thing. Like you, probably like most of us, I too have made the mistake. Unfortunately it is part of the learning process. I just did something similar 2 hatches ago. When my hatch was finished... at least I thought it was finished, I started to open an egg. The chick showed no signs of trying to hatch and it was the last egg. I listened, heard nothing. Candled it, saw no movement. I started to open it and it was alive. Unfortunately I hit a blood vessel. Try as I may I could not get it to stop and the little chick died. I was so upset. I still feel really bad about it. I think all we can do when we make a mistake is to take note of it and try to do better the next time around. It was not done out of malice. It was an accident. No that does not make it any less sad. But from this point on you know better and will do better. :)
