Crafts using feathers.

To wash feathers, use normal dawn (not antibacterial), rinse extremely well, and then blow-dry. If the feathers are loose (not attached to a skin) I will stick the base of each to a piece of tape to blow dry them. Blow drying fluffs them back up in a way that air drying does not.

I actually paint on feathers. Here is one on a chicken wing feather!
 
I hand wash mine and let them air dry. If they need fluffed up a bit I just blow on them, and they fluff right back up. Most of them go right back to their natural shape though. I just got my jewelry supplies today. I'm going to dye some and see if I can make some stuff this week. I might try to paint some as well. I'm still in the trial and error phase, but I'm excited about getting started.
