Counting Chickens B4 They're Hatched
This is so silly that I just have to share. I live a ways out of town, and am just within the bounds to get electricity. The phone drops calls if I try to use it indoors, so I have to go out on the porch to talk. Anyway, a storm took out my internet connection early his morning, and I just got off the phone with the ISP's IT department. I had to keep running into the house to check the modem then back outside to the porch to talk to the IT tech. Got my exercise for the day.
She doesn't speak much English, and my cockerel kept making all sorts of weird noises trying to crow. She thought the noises were an equipment problem, and I kept telling her I was on the porch near chickens. Apparently she didn't know the word chickens and kept trying to clear her equipment. We spent about 10 minutes with me trying to tell her, "No, it's a chicken!" while she kept getting upset at the equipment and he kept trying to crow. He doesn't really sound like a rooster yet, it's more of a squeaky eee-eee-eeeeee! sound. She never did understand. I just told her the internet was back and thank you, while she worried about the weird noises made by my cockerel. *sigh* i wonder if she's still trying to fix her equipment?
