so by the title of this thread you will indeed see an explanation of my sweet innocent silkie….YEA RIGHT!!!
So my flock of babies, I have a few ages. My silkie is of the oldest flock. They are almost 2 yrs old. She has been a delightful and calm baby until recently. Back in June we purchased more chickens and a few turkeys. Silkie has always been the mother of the bunch ofc taking care of the runts as I would call them. One day we decided to just check up on the weight of our turkeys. My husband picked up the hen(turkey) and ofc she made crazy noise. Silkie literally came across the back yard running, and jumped at my husband feet first, attacking him. Squawking and trying to peck his feet, he put the turkey down. So we thought well maybe it was a bad day for her. So a few days later, my son went to pick up the jake(turkey) and her she comes again, claws out, scratching up his leg and attacking his feet. So once he put him down, she stopped and would pace back and forth between my son and the turkey. She doesn't do it with the other young chickens we got at the same time or with our ducks. seems to be only the turkeys. Is this normal motherly behavior or has she lost it...lol...
