Cream legbar chick?

Yes. I've attached a pic of one of my CCL hatches. Notice the difference. They are 4 days old at this point.

Wolfwatcher, what you are saying is that if one wants to get CL from GFF, one should get the production line, or is that line also contaminated with the Jill Reese line? If so, where should one get CLs?

according to their website that would be most likely. You can also go to the cream legbar club and go to the breeders directory. creamlegbarclub.com/member-directory-beta/

Just make sure to ask if their flock has the Jill Reese line in it. Or a better way to determine that is to make sure there was no British imports to their line at or after 2012.

Heck if my girls were not on strike right now you could get some from me, but sadly I think they have stopped due to the heat of summer here.

I would be interested in seeing a picture of what you consider the correct type for a Cream Legbar.
Okay I will do that. I snagged a few pics from differing farms to use as examples

First up is Roo's

a Jill Reese line roo.

Then a Cream Legbar Roo

Besides the obvious disqualifier in the Jill Reese Roo for his comb notice how muted his colors are compared to the Cl roo.

Now for the hens

And then CL hen

Once again, the silver washes out the other colors and you have a washed out Cream Legbar when you compare it to a hen from a line that does not have the Jill Reese line in it. I have seen crosses of Cream Legbars from the Jill Reese line that are line bred to that line only become almost un-sexable at hatch. to lose the auto sexing feature means it is no longer a cream legbar as that is one of its most defining features.

Depending on what country you are showing in, they allow more colors to their cream legbar SOP's that we do. A lot of the differing countries don't care if the auto sexing aspect is dropped only caring if the breed lays a blue egg.

And here is a couple of pics of the Gold Creole Legbar. Which I am trying to build back up as they are eye popping. Don't get me wrong, I do have the creams, and I do breed them, I personally like the looks of the golds.

And finally, a few pics of my pen that had young grow outs for breeding including two of my gold Creole roos just to show I am not just mining pics form other farms. The strange thing is the cream legbars are the ones I have the least pics of.

Thank you so much for the pictures. I was wondering about the Creole Legbar, since I had heard the mentioned. Very pretty birds!
