Cream Legbar - SOP discussion & pics

IMG_4011.JPG
I got another CLB this year and she just laid her first egg. Here it is beside penny's. It's green. Breeders site said she added Jill Rees lines to her flock as they were closer to SOP = greener eggs. She is a very pretty bird and much larger than Penny. I ended up using Penny to hatch olive eggers this year and got 80% pullets :)

Here are my two girls, didn’t get them for showing, but how do you think they would fair so far? They’re about 5 months

I really like the marans thread and can't find a legbar thread to learn from. Hoping there are a few of you here into this breed for a lively discussion and pics! Here is Penny- my only chick from a recent order that will lay eggs:(. One of the marans is very nice so I'm going to get a few hens to breed. I'm hoping Penny fits the bill for making more legbar a too. Her tail is completely closed but most of this standard stuff is Greek to me. Learning. 11 weeks.

Legbars come in 3 color variants, Cream, Gold Crele and White.

This girl is a Gold Crele

So these are my legbar ladies. I wonder by breed standard who is considered the best looking lady? I am partial to Eliza's pretty gray neck feathers, although Angelica has the prettiest head floof. Peggy is my ugly duck, lol.

and Peggy (anyone "get" their names? haha):

And one where you can sorta see their bodies.

Angelica is a Gold Crele Legbar

Eliza is a Cream Legbar

Peggy is another Gold Crele

Body shape and coloring are decent for their age

Here is my new CL. Only have had her a week. Very outgoing bird. I find myself looking at her often. Crazy comb for a hen? Made me wonder at first, until I got the blue egg on day one.

Body shape is decent.

Comb is a DQ, it coudl be from injury but it could be genetic. the first point should stand upwards and high and highest.

Neck coloring is not there, but what little I can see she is a Cream Legbar.

View attachment 1542302 I just noticed my cockerel has some predominately white tail feathers wth barring at the ends. Is this a disqualification? Or will this hopefully molt out?
Cream Legbar Male. while the tail does have excessive white near the base, this would be points off not a DQ. It can molt out after the first year. Tail and hind end looks good, I would need to see a pic of his chest to see how he stacks up. I like is eye and his comb could be better.

View attachment 1542316 I also have this pullet who has some grey in her breast. I’m sorry it’s jot the best picture, but how hard is this to breed out? Should I cull her or is it not that big of a deal in the standard?
Cream Legbar hen.

Nice eye and crest. Neck coloration and barring nice. body shape look s decent. While the chest coloring is a DQ, it can be bred out more than likely, it depends on how long it would take if you are up for it.

If she lays a nice Blue Egg with decent size I would try to work the black spotting out.

Cream Legbars after the introduction of the Jill Reese Line added 2 horrible issues. It introduced the possibility of green eggs which are an instant DQ and reason to remove from the breeding flock and confine to the laying only pen and aggressive poor attitude in the Roosters

The SOP calls for blue eggs only. unfortunately Jill Reese lines while they added genetic strength and are close to the call of SOP, they added Green eggs which is a DQ for breeding
