Creating a new breed?

Anyone ever try to create a new breed of chicken? Just curious. I wondered that as I was watching my flock today. I'm betting there are certain breeds, that when combined, would make a beautiful bird.

Thoughts? Experiences?

Hey Andrea! I'm actually considering doing something like this to create a bird that is duel purpose, cold/damp hardy, productive into the winter, thrifty, and expresses great hybrid vigor! I know many folks might think this odd and say there are plenty of breeds out there that fit this bill, but I kind of want to try developing something suited just for me!

Lol, I just think certain birds put together would create a pretty offspring. Somebody is doing it, otherwise we wouldn't have all the breeds we do now! But I like your way of thinking!!
