Hello! I purchased crested ducklings without knowing the consequences (won’t happen again) and ended up with 5 ducks and 1 drake. Is it okay to keep the drake as long as no harm or aggression is being shown? They are only 2 months old now. I will rehome if I have to I just wanted to get a few opinions before he goes.

Yes, it fine sense you have 4 females for him!! Good luck with your ducks!!

Yes you have a suitable amount of hens to a drake ratio. There shouldn't be problems but if aggression is a factor then by almeans remove the drake. What consequence are you referring to?

I have read that the crests are a skull deformity and neurological damage can occur if the drake uses it during breeding. I have 5 females to 1 male but I am worried about the crests. I would like to keep him though.

I raise ducks for show would like to introduce crested white and blacks will see though. I did find that the crest are skull deformitys but not the neurological damage done. When ducks breed the male hold on to the head / neck area .. This breed is in the APA and breeding are successful. All I can say for your concern is watch them and check on them but otherwise it's up to you what you do with your drake
