Hatched some eggs with my kids and I was hoping to rehome the chicks so I had questions regarding breed for the eggs I got:

If you cross a Legbar with an Australorp does that make the chick an Easter Egger or a barn yard mix since Legbars inheritantly are a mix?

If you cross an EE with an Americauna does it continue being called an EE?

Saphire Gem and a Silkie cross, do you think that it would get the "cuteness" of a silkie with the egg production of a Saphire Gem?

Thanks!

The silkie cross with not inherit silkie feathers.

The other two crosses are EEs. And if their parents are pure, they will lay blue/green.

The Saphire Gem/Silkie has feathered feet and is the gray one in the pictures.

Thanks! I'm pretty new to chickens so it's all uncharted territory for me lol

But since Saphire Gems are sex linked chickens, can gender be determined for that chick?

The Silkie cross will not be fluffy though. It will be smooth-feathered, if the Silkie parent is pure.

@LadiesAndJane Will that cross be a fibromelonosis sexlink? I forgot...again :barnie
Sorry to laugh! I just love your little frustrated emoji guy!
It depends on the leg color of the sapphire gem parent. I know some sapphire gems have slate shanks. Which parent is the silkie? Assuming it’s the father? Can we get a close-up of this chick and more details?
Check the skin color of this chick under the wings and let us know.😊

To answer your question about the egg production of your silkie cross, I find my crosses tend to have more consistent egg laying but they also tend to go broody like a silkie!😊
