Hi! We got a Crevecouer cockerel (along with a Crevecouer pullet) from a McMurray shipment that was supposed to be all female. I'm wondering if anyone would be able to share information on the general temperament of this breed? I know individual chickens vary significantly. We aren't allowed to have roosters, although at least two neighbors do and last time we had roosters all the neighbors were ok with it, and I'd like to keep him as long as I can since he is great with the other chicks (they're all 8 weeks old), is constantly on the lookout in the yard driving away wild birds, and is pretty friendly for a rooster (see photo... he looks very scary LOL).

The Crevecouers are with ten other chicks and they really hold their own for being so different looking. We also possibly have a Phoenix and Egyptian Fayoumi rooster (still too early to tell), but would only keep one.

Thanks for any help you can give!

He is adorable!
Funny, I just posted a request for information about crevecoeur and houdan breeds from ideal hatchery.
I love your photo.

Thank you! So far, he's very sweet. Hopefully we'll be able to keep him.

Good luck with your Crevecoeur and Houdan orders! We've never ordered from Ideal, but hear good things about them from other BYC members.
