I'm not sure what to do. Monday it was straight. Tonight it's crooked.

He's a 2.5 week old EE (I know crooked beak is common with these birds) What should I do? I just culled a chick with a slipped tendon that lost ability to walk, I am not sure I can do it again. He's so sweet, and is eating and drinking. I'm thinking it's a roo. I am not sure. I don't want chicks to be disabled, but I am at a loss. Please give honest advice. These aren't hatchery chicks, should I try and get up with the breeder, or would they know?

please post a pic... I am posting below some info I found (you will need to go to a vet to get the med) which might in this case be helpful (normally there isnt much you can do outside of keeping it trimmed and feeding in a deep dish ) > dont wait if you want to try this... the long you wait the more intractable the condition.
(print this out for your vet:

"Use of Penetran for Beak Malocclusion Greg J. Harrison, DVM Dipl. ABVP Avian"
(excerpt)
Topical application of Penetran is effective for avian skin rashes, local irritations and ulcerations. It can be mixed with aloe vera liquid for generalized dermatologic conditions. Because it has penetrating properties, I have used it to treat some deeper muscular problems. In two cases of a serious beak malocclusion with underbite, the only therapy was application of Penetran to the facial muscles including the periopthalmic areas. In a ten-day-old cockatoo, the muscles relaxed and the beak returned to normal positioning overnight; a full week of Penetran application and prolonged periods of manual positioning of the beak were also successful in a four-week-old cockatoo.Penetran is a commercially available ammonium solution from TransDermal Technologies, Inc.

i don't know if you still have this problem, butwe had a chick with crooked beak, it just got worse and worse, finally we took it to the vet and had it put to sleep. you probably don't feel any better, but you said honest answer, and that's all i got.

the only reason i don't do tat is because my avatar is just about the only good picture of one of my chickens i got, but what a good way to keep things fresh.
