Crooked bill

Hello!

I noticed recently that miss Nessie’s top half of the bill has become crooked.

I tried to look some stuff up but couldn’t really find anything helpful

It hasn’t affected her whatsoever. She still loves to forage and eats and drinks normal.

Is this something I can correct? Or will it correct itself? Will it get worse?

I would say as long as she’s eating and growing I wouldn’t worry too much. I don’t know anything about ducks but I do have a chicken with a cross beak so I’m just going based off of my knowledge of caring for her

It could twist more but it’s really hard to say if it will or not. Some have speculated that it’s genetics, an issue during incubation, or exposure to pesticides but cause is unknown. There is no way to correct it and it will not go back to normal but her quality of life shouldn’t be affected, she’ll have a normal life but just have a groovy smile.

I’m hoping it’s not the pesticides, as we do not use any sort of chemical in the yard. But you never know. Either way I will make sure she lives the best life she can I’m all for groovy smiles
