Hi everyone, I just rescued a 7 month old rooster with crooked toes. He walks on the side of his feet. I can move his toes to normal position, and was wondering if I could maybe make them go back to "normal"??? Is there any way I can help him, and if I just leave his feet the way they are, will it cause problems further on in his life??

Since he is so old I would leave his feet alone and just make sure that he has a low roost so he doesn't injure his feet when jumping down in the morning.

Generally to fix feet you only have a few days after they are born.

Crooked toes can be from incubation conditons, genetic causes, injuries, or from vitamin deficiency. Given that he is older and all, I would just not use him for a breeding program if it were me, not knowing if he was born with that problem.

Thanks. He can't get on a roost because his side toes go all the way under his feet...he loses his balance quite often. I just don't know if I should get them removed or not. I don't want him to get arthritis or anything.
