I have a red star and I am unsure of age. I’d say she’s around 4 if I had to guess. She’s been not herself for the last two weeks.

She completely stopped laying about a week and a half ago. First she was puffed up and standing still a lot. I saw her butt and it looked like egg bound/prolapse. I treated for egg bound with epsom salt baths. The next day she was acting completely fine. The next 5 days she was normal. Then one day she went back to puffed up and standing still a lot, tail tucked. She didn’t come out when I opened the door and stayed on the roost tail down. I dewormed her on Sunday in case it was worms. Monday we took her to the vet. He did x rays and saw nothing concerning. He said there was some fluid in her crop and tested it and didn’t see a need for any type of nystatin or antibiotics. He really had no idea what was wrong except “maybe a crop issue, maybe mareks”. She has already been vaccinated for mareks.

Her coop mate is acting fine and normal (I only have one other).

The day after she got back from the vet, her crop was maybe the size of half a tennis ball. Felt like a small water balloon. It has felt like that going on day 3 now. I started treating for impacted crop but she’s pooping so I was thinking sour crop…but nothing smells sour? I’ve been keeping her separated during the day but letting her roost at night with her buddy. Tonight when I put her up there I must have squeezed her and liquid just flew out of her mouth. I smelled what came out and it smells like nothing. Nothing foul at all.

Day 1 I withheld food and today been giving her crumble mash and apple cider vinegar water. I’ve been treating like it’s sour crop…but it’s not sour? can she have sour crop but nothing smells bad?

I did start giving her a small bit of generic monistat today.

I did see some worms in her poop last night from deworming on Sunday (pic).

Poops now are small but pretty normal. I’m just so confused. I have no idea what to do at this point. Treat like sour crop?

Hmm... I have no idea what could be wrong, but I have a suggestion that might help her feel better. My go-to hen-healer is Nutri-Drench, it can be found at Tractor Supply. It's just what is sounds: a boost of nutrients. It might help boost her immune health and metabolism. Good luck, hope she feels better.
