The impacted crop thing scares me! I have been mixing some olive oil in with milk-soaked bits of bread. They love it and I'm hoping keeping that oiled up will help prevent an impaction. Anyone have any thoughts on that? Do you think it's a waste of time or could it help? I was so excited about getting my chickens and now I'm worrying over everything that could happen! Silly me.

I'm sure they'll be fine.

Crop impaction is relatively rare, I think, and quite unlikely to occur from chicken feed alone. Really...your chickens will be just fine!
