Topic: Cross beak

This little one is a 9 day old flourishing chick. Today I noticed it’s beak was off set (1 & 2). After looking closer, the top beak appears to be longer than the bottom.

I looked back at photos (3 & 4) from just a few days ago and this chicks beak was normal.

It seems awfully quick for the beak to over grow. Should I clip it and see if it rights itself?

I just had this happen to a lovely EE chick...he started out fine but about a week in his beak started to look like that. In two more weeks it got dramatically worse...at about 4 weeks it was so bad we put him down :-(
There are varying degrees of how bad it gets. Could be very mild or very bad and of course things you can do to help them.
The best advice given to me by everyone here was to make the best decision for the bird and flock and not for myself.
Best of luck with your little one. I hope it's very mild!!
