What are your intentions with this bird? Eggs, pet, meat, or for show? If it is just going to be for anything but breeding for a show flock, I would say he/she is fine.

I hatched a severely crossbeaked chick 6 weeks ago...so severe his whole head is shaped funny and he only has one eye! I gave him (her?) a chance and he eats and drinks just fine and never got picked on by the other 11 chicks. I only kept 4 of those 11 and they are all doing fine, he grows a bit slower but that's about it. I think if he was not able to eat or drink I would have had him culled. I'd give yours a chance.

I have a Buff Wyandotte that has a cross beak. I don't know what would be extreme (hers is extreme to me), but here is a photo so you can judge. I noticed it pretty early on, but decided to see how she'd fare with eating.

She has done really well. She has no problem eating - it probably helps that I feed pelleted food - but she also seems to free range for additional treats with no problem. She looks a little simple, but she lives a great little life.

I have a chicken with a very crossed beak, and shes now 2 years old.

Did he hatch late? If he did he may not make it, I had one who had the same problem, he only lived 2 days.

From the pic it doesn't look to bad. Let him live.

Well there is no real way to fix it, but I would not breed her for show. I'd hate to see you through a bad gene into the line and have grade A show birds down the line that get DQ for the beak.
