Hi everyone, I recently bought 4 hens; 2 Rhode Island reds and 2 Buff Orpingtons. I am very interested in expanding my flock in the spring and I was wondering what would be a good breed to cross with my hens, I am interested in having table birds out of the chicks I will hatch but I would also like for them to be good layers so I can sell them when they are old enough. So could you please give me some suggestions for a breed of cockerel that I can cross with my girls

Welcome to BYC! There's a great chart that will tell you this kind of stuff. Look for the ones labeled Dual Purpose for meat and eggs. And then shop around the site for a spare rooster from someone who has a WELL BEHAVED rooster that sired that chick (since temperament is a heritable quality).
