Cross breeding

Good morning all! So I have a male silkie rooster and a buff Orpington hen and I decided I might want to breed the two of them. The question is how do I cross breed chickens? And to add on, the buff Orpington is a little bigger than the silkie roo so can it even happen? Thanks!

Hi there.
To cross breed hens you just put the rooster in with the hen and leave them off.
Even though the Silkie rooster is smaller it should still work.

Well, if the silkie can 'reach' to make good contact for that 'cloacal kiss' it should work.
Another thing that might impede successful fertilization is if the Orp has too many fluffy butt feathers,
that can impede any sized cockbird from making good contact.
