I’ve got celadon Coturnix quail eggs coming. If I get Jumob Coturnix and put them in the same pen, will they cross-breed? If so, I assume I can just separate out some pairs later for breeding purposes. Is that right?

They will breed and the celadon gene is recessive so plan on normal quail egg layers.

They will breed with each other. Celadons are just a colour mutation of japanese quail, so they're all the same species. If you don't want them to breed, you'll have to separate them.

Thanks. I like the idea of different color eggs and birds. I’ll be sure to build a honeymoon suite when I’m ready to breed them.
