will my Guinea males try to breed my Rhode Island Red pullets? It's not something i'm looking forward to, but if there's any way to prevent it, i'd like to know. I'm just getting my first eggs from my 3 Reds and 1 female Guinea...
thanks for the help.

Yes they will mate with your pullets - only way to stop is to physically seperate them. But unless you are planning to allow them to go broody & hatch the eggs out, this should not really be a problem (the eggs are still edible).

How many males to how many females? To many males are stressfull and you may want the males physically seperated anyway for this reason.

2 males to 4 females; hopefully I will be able to give the "meanest" male away as he terrorizes everyone.

good to know about the separation although at this point all chickens retire to the same coop at night.

Thanks
