Hello everyone! I have this "great plan" for creating this great crossbreed and was wondering what ya'll think of it. So, I have 5 laying Tetra Tint hens. For all you who are not familiar with the breed, Tetra Tints are a hybrid of Rhode Island Reds and White Leg Horns. TT's are egg-celent (see what I did there?

) layers and meat chickens. I get white, brown, cream, and speckled eggs of all sizes from them! TT's have become a breed of their own now. These hens are 6 months and broody, so I was ready to take the next step in my plan. Yesterday, I was out buying fly spray for my horses at Tractor Supply when all the sudden, I hear a rooster crow! A huge bird sale was going on in the parking lot of TS, there were some bunnies, goats, and kittens there too, but mostly poultry. I stumbled upon this roo that was sitting quietly in a cage and asked how much he was. $5 bucks for this 4 month old, Swedish Flower Hen rooster, SOLD! I snuck him home and threw him in with the hens. Everyone's getting along and he's just handsome as can be! I want to crossbreed him with my TT hens to get good quality eggs/meat, but the flashy look of the roo. I want to call the new breed, Swedish Tint

. If you have no idea what breeds I'm talking about then here's some pictures.

What do you think? Would you purchase a crossbreed of these two? Thanks, all opinions are appreciated!

First and Foremost, I'm glad your egg-cited!

See what I did there Makayla?

If you want this project of beautified Swedish Flower Tints that is all that matters. So I wish you all the breeding success in the world.

I'll bet you get some cute chicks out of the deal.

Project research note: How will the effectiveness of the laying TT hens be passed on to the chicks from a Swedish Flower Hen Rooster? Maybe your program of breeding will quiet any cynical old chicken farmer! Hope the best for ya.

Phil
