I have several different types of breeds..... Barred rocks, Delawares, RiR, buffs, and ameraucanas. Have any of my fello chicken loving friends mixed any of these breeds together??? I am interested in crossbreeding some of my babies with hopes of creating a great laying hardy attractive xbreed. Please help!!

Any chicken you produce will be a hybrid. The offspring may inherit the genes that cause heteosis or they may not. Heterosis is also called hybrid vigor. Unless you are ready to trap nest or keep track of every egg the offspring produce and run statistics on the results; you will never know if they have heterosis. You can produce sex links with the birds you have.

I like the looks of the offspring produced by a male buff over a female barred rock.
