Crossing a Australorp hen with a New Hamp. Red Rooster...

If I crossed these birds, what would I get? I've been considering it, I don't know why.... I wonder if they'd be good layers? Or maybe some kinda sex link?

They wouldn't be Sex-Linked.
The chicks from the cross should be Black maybe with some leakage of red...

I hatched some RIR x BA. All the offspring were girls (imagine that!), and they looked like black sex link hens. Black bleeding red around the neck. Very nice & productive cross.

I have thaught about that same cross as well. I think they would make great producers.
