Crossing a Black Australorpe Rooster with a Splash Orpington Hen ?

Will this crossing produce blue chicks? black x splash = 100% blue Has anyone out there done this? If so, please send me pictures. And what name would you give the chicks? Austra Orphs.

an australorp breeder named hupp already has blue australorps and that is how he got them , i believe. that was a couple years ago.

aussies are technically a type of orp, right( IIRC, the name Australorp is short for Australian orpington)... so wouldn't the result of a cross still technically be an orpington... or at least pretty darn close

i guess you could grade back to pure in a few generations keeping only the blue ones. a few of the show lines have black orpington in them to make the birds bigger. unlike most breeds, a lot of hatchery black australorps are up to standard and breed true.
