Hello,
I have a 5 month old sultan cockerel that is in need of some help. I took him and another roo from some friends who said they weren't walking. Both had several broken blood feathers on their feet and one had a broken toe. I pulled all broken blood feathers on both boys and splinted the broken toe. After about 5 days the stronger of the two was walking and the one with the broken toe had greatly improved and could move much easier. Due to how hard it was for the smaller one though, it appeared that he sat down more often than stood up. I figured he was probably still healing, I have now realized that it is worse than ever (about 3 weeks later). He can't walk at all and his thighs are very small compared to his friends. I'm guessing that it was because he sat for so long that his muscles have just eroded? I built him a harness that we help him walk around in every morning now trying to build back up his muscle slowly. He looked a little tired this morning and I assumed it was from the harness work, but when I got home this afternoon he seems very sick. He is lethargic and having a hard time breathing, it seems like her has mucus in his throat and he sounds croupy. he is sneezing quite a bit and has dried dis charge around his nostrils. What medication can I give hima dn how much to treat the respiratory? Also any thoughts on the leg problems?
Thanks in advance!
