Today, 2 crows killed one of my 4 week old Cornish Cross chicks. This was not a small chicken. He was decidedly bigger than a softball and bigger than a lot of bantams.
I caught the crows in the act. I am not just accusing them because the chick was dead and I saw the crows somewhere in the neighborhood on the same day.
So now the chicks are confined to one of the night runs. It puts a crimp in my plans to get them out ranging in my orchard.
I'd just put ducklings out and had to move them back inside the house. They are a lot smaller than the Cornish cross chicks, so the crows would be killing them next.
I wish I could find some way to get rid of the crows.
