I rec'd my chick order mid Feb, and now that they are growing up, I've realized I didn't exactly get what I asked for. One of the unidentified chicks was this one (pic below) and I've been trying to figure it out - we've gone around and around with some folks and maybe she's some sort of cornish or game bird of some sort? Then I ran across some cubalaya hen pics and then I began to wonder.

I HAD ordered a cubalaya roo with that Feb order. I thought that the cute little white fluffy chick that I got was the Cubalaya male (they are born white, correct?) and he is still white right now at two months old. I thought maybe he would get his color with his first molt? I don't know - someone will have to tell me the answer to that one....other wise I have yet ANOTHER chicken that I have no idea what it is...

back to subject at hand - so after seeing what the black breasted red cubalaya hens look like, I began to wonder if that's what she is. Instead of getting a male, maybe they sent me a female?

Any experts out there? And now I'm wondering what the little white fluffy (and large) chicken is that I originally that was the cubalaya male...!!BLAH!

Here's her photo. 2 months old -

They seem to have the same body shape - but she doesn't have the different colored hood like the Asil/Aseel chicken hens..she is all coppery colored with a darker chest. She is the only bird unidentified at this point in my order and the Cubalaya male that I ordered isn't in my order so that is why I think that she must have fallen into that 10% error in sexing and I got a female instead...? How much do the Asil hens weigh? This little lady is about half the weight of the other dual purpose hens of the same age right now. She is of a much more slender build but just as tall as they are.
