I'm so sorry about your hen. Are you going to see if you can determine what caused it? Can the vet do a necropsy?

I still don't know what's going on with Lexie, but after three days under a heatlamp and a warm bath, lubing her up, trying to find an egg in there, etc., her eyes are bright, comb and wattles very red. She isn't breathing as heavily, I think, but she isn't eating as much. I think the isolation was getting to her. Since today is a warmer day, I put her back out with the flock and will keep an eye on her. So, I'm not sure I'm out of the woods with her yet.

Again, my condolences.

No, unfortunately our vet doesn't know much about chickens, he wouldn't know what to even look for. When he was checking out the Maran, he consulted with another vet in another city about checking for parasites and Cocci. (which both were negative)
