We were on Day 13 with our two Black Langshans x Splash Australorp (Roo) eggs when mites took over and she ate one of the eggs. The other egg looks to be dead as well but I have left it with her just in case. We have treated the mites with Sevin Dust as well as treated all the birds in that coop and cleaned it from top to bottom. All the nests, roosting spots, and dust areas were layered with Sevin Dust before being re-bedded. No mites were found today! :woot

She is determined to hatch out at least 1 baby so since we decided that we were just going to throw out the eggs from yesterday and today that we might as well give them to her to try and see what happens. The eggs are from Light Brahmas, Cuckoo Marans, and Black Langshans. All with a Splash Australorp Rooster.

Today is Day 0 for all but one of the eggs which is on Day 14, if this one magically isn't dead and hatches we will take it and raise it ourselves that way she can hatch out the others and not leave them behind. I will make sure that I re-candle the Day 14 egg on Day 18 to make sure it is still developing, if not then we will remove that egg for safety.

We will see what happens! :fl

*WARNING LOTS OF PICTURES AHEAD*

We are on Day 8 and so I candled them when she hopped off for a break this afternoon. It’s been 100+ every day for the past 4 days. There are several eggs that I’m not sure on, while some have obvious growth and movement. I think some pictures repeated I apologize for the huge amount of pictures!

We’re on Day 19 and it’s looking like maybe 3 are viable. :thWe’re in the final stages!

We also had a Black Langshan hen go broody :he so I had some experimental eggs that had started developing in my homemade incubator that she’s sitting on now. They are on Day 12, and she’s on Day 4 of sitting. She has five that were for sure viable, and one maybe.
