I know it's tough to give up a pet / buddy. Sometimes it's a difficult choice that we have to make. I'm sure Cuddles will be fine in his new home. Pretty darn easy to get attached to a chicken, isn't it? Do you have more birds I hope? Good luck with them if you do.

Thank you, he's very special ( spoilt)
I had three cuckoo maran cockerels and three hens
I'm not keeping any cockerels as I've other breeds and don't want cuddles
Inseminating everyone! Even the cat has to run past him!
The other cockerels haven't tried to mate yet but cuddles Is a fluffy mass of hormones

I'm going to put my other two in the local market and see if they go
I've been supprised at how good Facebook has been for selling chickens locally

No doubt I'll find another favorite to spoil And that will end up being a cockerel too!

Do you still have the Cuckoo Marans? They are really tough to come by in the states and demand a pretty high price. I have been trying to get a few but it isn't easy. What are your feelings about the breed? Do they really lay the super dark brown egg that people go nuts for?

Hi they are very common here I got six chicks for £8
I think the French blue and copper black and wheaten ones( all of which I'm hatching) are prettier than the cuckoo Marans
But I love my cuckoos, lovely, friendly, chatty I can't fault them, not sure on eggs yet they are only five months so any day now!
Can't wait ill post pictures

Awwwww.   I know you're sad, but at least he's going to a wonderful home, and he will be spoiled just like you've been doing!

Thank you, he's such a character can't imagine how people can cull them
I can see cockerels are going to be a big problem for me unless they get their own bachelor pad
He had more kisses this evening, dreading tomorrow :(

Last selfie

He was amazing in the car 30 min drive
Just slept in my lap
I gave him some water when we arrive
I got two loud burps!
And took him to his temporary hutch( with two other cockerels)
Luckily they were fine together , welsumers I think, only 5 months like cuddles

Its an amazing farm and the chickens have a whole barn through the winter
Missing him already ; (
