My little Rhode Island Red special needs rooster has started breeding with my hens (he's almost 2 years old) but I don't want his genetic influence and I can't stand keeping him in a pen his whole life (he free-ranges) so I am looking for someone who might want a pet roo.
He's small for a RIR, has a bum leg (he's been off-balance since he was a baby) and he does fine generally, but he can't run fast and he trips a fair amount. He's way at the bottom of the totem pole in the flock and stays by himself most of the time. He loves to be held and is an excellent lap-snuggler. I would say he'd make a great house rooster because he hardly ever crows and if he does, you can barely hear it. He likes people and is very mild-mannered and not in the least aggressive.
I would give him to someone who has a good home. I'm located in Southeast Pa.
