Cull or not? Copper (no copper) Splash Marans young roo, around four m

Patty-that would depend on if you have something to breed him to and if you are breeding for Splash or Splash Copper.
Some Marans lines do not get much copper, and some people have chose to not select for it then.
HOWEVER that does not make them entirely splash, blue, or black, bc they still have the genes and copper color can show up
in the offspring. There are breeders working with true blue or black...but black Marans is different than a black copper not showing copper.
I think it does take awhile for the splash to copper in if they are going to get it.
I think he looks good. Here is one of my splash hens and her brother(who I dont have )0: but may have to get offspring from
as my roos decided they didnt like each other in a major way and it ended badly for the best one I had.
So now I have Black Copper Roos...and a few hens, but a pen of splash and blue minus copper that should have a copperless guy.
You could read the Standard for blue Marans and see how he does..of course, he would have copper if you were aiming for the
Standard for blue copper Marans.

If she is breeding for Blue copper, than that rooster will produce poorly. A proper rooster needs red in it's hackles and saddle, and slightly marked on the breast. A judge will DQ you if you don't have enough. You act as if It doesn't matter how much red he should have when it is quite important.

You could read the Standard for Blue Marans

&
Standard for Blue Copper Marans.

I was not aware either variety had been recognised anywhere.
Could you indicate where the Standard can be read?

Sorry, I misspoke -the proposed Standard for blue
