Today I had to make a tough decision about my sick pullet Hazel she started out acting like she needed to lay on the 16th after not laying for over a month (broke broodiness) she would get in and out of the nesting boxes seaming like she was trying to lay which was not productive, the next few days she started showing unsteadyness but was still up moving around eating acting pretty much normal..
I thought well maybe she is egg bound and it's pressing on a nerve to her leg I checked her inside and out nothing . Gave her warm bathes ,calcium.
As of two days ago she was able to walk about 6 inches before falling over but still willing to eat and drink by me hand feeding her . I was giving her wet feed with b complex vitamins,, electrolytes, her comb was turning purple...
Yesterday she stopped trying to eat or drink anything she had lost alot of weight felt emaciated,no pooping ,couldn't stay upright without falling over so I made the decision that her quality of life wasn't there and I culled her today by broomstick method my very first time ever having to do this .
I hope I made the right choice on this I feel extremely sad that I have failed this poor baby that I hatched my first time ever hatching eggs. Ugh it's tough being a chicken keeper

I'm not exactly sure what was the cause of her issues , I couldn't find it in me to cut her open .
