Culling Delaware flock

I almost wish I had a roo for this one... but she lays dark brown eggs... should that be... my other dellie just lays a medium to light brown egg.

Even my DH is impressed and it takes alot to impress him. The girls are very sweet and Isaac is such a calm and friendly guy. I actually made Isaac the flock rooster over the laying flock, so added his girls to the main coop. This has been a very smooth transition. The Dellie girls have not made one move to attack any of the others, but when one of the older hens gets in their faces, they put her in her place and go on about their business. It's really wonderful, how easily they have become one group in a days' time. Isaac is being a great leader. My huge Lt. Brahma hen, Miranda, decided to take on one of the Dellie girls and jumped in her face. Ike shot over from about 3 feet away, broke it up and "told" Miranda not to mess with his main squeeze. Four of the five Delaware girls laid eggs in the unfamiliar nests today, after Isaac got into one to show where he thought the best spot was. And they really listen to him. So, instead of six girls, Isaac now has about 24.

Dutch, my BR rooster, was moved to the former Delaware coop adjacent to the BBS Orp coop, with the five BRs, four Ameraucanas and Shadow, my banty Cochin. I did put three heavily molting ladies in with Dutch temporarily because I want to concentrate on fattening them up before I put them with Ike.

The standard doesn't mention egg color, so anything should be fine. Mine lay an egg as dark as my Cuckoo Marans eggs, which I think is great. The darker, the better in my book.
