I have two pullets, Easter Eggers who are now laying lovely small eggs. I also have two other hens. The young girls still get pushed around some and both do some avoiding/escaping some nights instead of dealing with the roosting order inside the coop. One (Goldie) sometimes goes to roost on the coop door (it's open) rather than going in. When she does go in, if she is next to her pullet friend (they often travel as a team), she will push up to her friend (BE) and put her head and neck under her friend's chest. Tonight at dusk I moved Goldie in by BE who promptly hopped to the next roost. Then Goldie hopped right over to her and put her head under BE's chest. BE changed roosts again and that was that for the evening. Other eves I have seen the ducking position last much longer. Do any of you know what it indicates? Thanks :)
