I’m new to raising d’Anvers and have some three day old quail colored chicks. Can you determine their sex by down color? I’m thinking that the lighter color, especially around the head indicates a cockerel and the darker color indicates a pullet.

I found this on Google:
No, Barbu d'Anvers chicks (also known as Antwerp Belgian chicks) are not auto-sexing, meaning their gender cannot be determined by color or physical features at hatch. They are sex-linked, which means that they can be crossed with other breeds to create chicks that can be sexed at hatch, but Barbu d'Anvers chicks themselves do not have visible differences in color or markings at hatch.
