Hello everyone.
I am here in Dallas new to chickens. What types of coops are y'all using here? I have been looking at coop designs and asking some questions I was told that open coop is the way to go. I can see that as how hot it gets here,, but what about winters?
I am looking at Rhode Island Red and silkie, I think.

I do not live in your area but probably close the same zones. My main coop is some what tight(has little gaps between the boards) but I have a big storm window on the two sides that I adjust/open in the summer time for a cross breeze. I do have 1/2" hardware cloth over the window part that opens to keep the chickens safe at night.
