Hi everyone
big_smile.png
, I have a nice coop with an open run. The girls eggs have always been safe, but now the Blue Jays are getting in and stealing the eggs:(: The coop is surrounded with chicken wire, but I let them out to roam during the day. Their food and water is inside, so I leave the door open. Any suggestions on how to allow the girls out to roam, and keep the blue jays out? I'm thinking of completely covering the entire run with wire, but with the economy the way it is, it's going to take awhile before I can do this.. Help....:|

Well I cannot afford to cover my run with wire either so I am planning to use an old soccer goal net it will be able to strech over the run area and keep the birds out (i hope) we had a hawk or something swipe up one of my babies.. I have a friend that went to a army surplus store and got a camo cover net an she has that over hers.. it provides shade too..

Two suggestions:
One a rubber black snake that is designed to keep birds away.
Two: Great Horned Owl model attached over the door,

Three: the Pellet gun if your in the city. Shotgun if your in the country.
