Kinda frustrated. First batch I had was 15. One escaped from the pen at about 6 weeks, but the other 14 made it to butcher. I picked up another batch of 20. Lost 3 within the first week or so. 17 made it until 5 weeks.... UNTIL today. I lost 10 in the past day. A predator got 1. The other 9 I'm guessing stroked out from the huge spike in temperature we got. We have went from 40F to almost 90F today. Such sensitive birds. I have 7 left from this batch and no idea if they'll survive. Looks like I'll be waiting until fall to stock my freezer.

So sorry, lollipopguild, that's a real bummer. Where are you? Are they in an enclosed coop with no ventilation? I'm in NW La. and if I get any it'll have to be soon or do the same as you. Early fall. By the way,

Keep on trucking it'll get better next time. You'll be more prepared. Do research on raising meaties.
