Danger in treating for cocci, if they don't have it

Curious..if you are mistaken and chicks don't have cocci..is their a danger that u treated them?

If you suspect the chicks have coxi and THEN you start treating them, it's too late.

The best thing to do is give them medicated starter feed that helps build up their tolerance to the disease. That way, if they are exposed to it they have a good fighting chance. Some hatcheries will vaccinate the day-old chicks for coxi before shipping them, at an extra fee. But usually, for most chicken ailments, if you wait to treat until you see obvious symptoms, it's too late.

And giving the chicks medicated feed will not be harmful. Good luck!
 
I thought the vaccine was mareks
Not for cocci, and yes they are on medicated feed..I ordered oh shoot forgot the name of it..but ordered to have on hand in case I see bloody stool..but I thought u treat if you suspect cocci

And yes, they have dark brownish reddish stool..so not sure if that's bloody stool

Some hatcheries will vaccinate for both Marek's and coxi. Some will even debeak your birds... ack!
