Never noticed it until yesterday and I’m usually very in tuned to my girls well being (only have 5 chickens) so I think it came on fairly suddenly.
Looks like a scab at the base so wondering if maybe it is some kind of keloid or hyperkeratotic reaction to a mild injury? She is happy as a clam otherwise.
Anyone seen this before??
Thanks!!

Wow! That's certainly interesting. If it's such a sudden growth, then I would agree with your conclusion that he got injured there are something just...went wrong. Does the area feel hot? Does he seem to be in pain? The question now is whether the area is an infection. Is that a scab I see near it? Clean the whole are out, and put some Neosporin on it. Make sure nothing else changes, no swelling or pus. Also, be careful that none of your other chickens pick at it, because they might cause further injury or even tear it off. If it doesn't seem to bother him after a few days, then I wouldn't really do anything with it. It might fall off on it's own, it might not. If you really don't want it there, or if the hens start tugging on it, you can try using a rubber band to cut off circulation to the area. After a few days it should fall off. But this is a risky method, so I would really just take him to a vet.

I would leave it, unless it's being chronically picked at and opened up. In which case you could either snip it off at the base or tie it off with floss.
If using floss, use plain (unflavoured) floss and tie it as tight as possible right down to the skin. Keep an eye on it and it will fall off in a few days.
Either way, I would pick up some betadine and give it a good cleaning under and around those scabs.
